When I introduced more strength training to my workouts this summer, I started to look for some creative options on how to incorporate more protein into my diet. To be honest, drinking mixed protein powder with milk or water isn’t really my thing. Besides that, I’m the type of person who gets quickly over a particular taste of food if consumed regularly and the taste of the plain protein powder shake doesn’t really please my taste buds (foodie in me speaking).
Inspired by milkshakes, I found out that blending fruit with protein and a bit of milk is a miracle combination. Especially this peach protein smoothie comes together nicely. It’s creamy from the protein and just enough sweet from fresh peaches. If you prefer your smoothies sweeter, the dash of honey will make it for this one. Oh, and don’t forget a pinch of cinnamon. It’s a wonderful spice that nicely complements the taste of peaches in this smoothie.
Packed with nutrition
PROTEIN, FIBER, and VITAMINS
Peach has a naturally high content of fiber (6-9% of your daily recommended intake) and is also rich in vitamin A, and vitamin C. Protein powder is the main source of quality protein in this smoothie.
What is in this protein peach smoothie
Fresh Peaches I love to use fresh unpeeled peaches in this smoothie, to get as many antioxidants and fiber from them. I sometimes let them sit for a day or two on the counter to let them mature a bit more, so they are even juicier and flavourful when mixed. If you prefer, you can use frozen peaches, and/or peeled peaches.
Plant Milk I’m using oat milk in this recipe. It has a similar creaminess to it cow’s milk and it is naturally sweet. Can be substituted with any other plant milk or cow’s milk.
Protein Powder I used plain whey protein powder, but you can also use vanilla whey protein powder to bring more flavor and sweetness to the smoothie.
Ice If you crave something refreshing on a hot summer day, ice is something you want to add to this smoothie.
Cinnamon. Cinnamon nicely complements the creamy peach taste, making it taste almost like a warm peach galette.
Honey In case you prefer a more sweet smoothie, honey will do its job here.
TIP : To increase the amount of protein in this smoothie you can add an unflavoured or vanilla flavoured greek yogurt to this smoothie. You can also use greek yogurt as a source of protein if you don't have protein powder at hand.
